Hill Country Youth Orchestras
Orchestra Facts
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
The Hill Country Youth Orchestras were a result of
the Suzuki String Program in Kerrville, begun in 1987.

• The Hill Country Youth Orchestras bring the
orchestra experience to large groups of the Hill
Country's young people. Every year students come
from Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Junction, Rocksprings,
Center Point, Ingram, San Antonio, Bulverde, Mason
and Boerne.

• There are five orchestras within the organization:
The Vivace Strings for our beginning players, The
Con Moto for less experienced string players, The
Cavatina and Junior Hill Country Chamber Orches-
tra for more experienced players and the full
Hill Country Youth Orchestra that includes brass,
woodwind, and percussion players. The orchestras
were formed in the fall of 1995.
• Chamber ensembles within the Orchestras perform
approximately twenty times per year. String
quartets and ensembles from the Orchestras perform
regularly for weddings, private parties and
community functions. Chamber ensembles receive
coaching through the HCYO.

• Musicians from the Orchestras help comprise the
orchestras in community theater productions in both
Kerrville and Fredericksburg.

• Orchestra rehearsals are held on Monday evenings
from September until the end of April. All rehearsals
are held at the First United Methodist Church in
Kerrville.

• The HCYO is an outreach ministry of the First United
Methodist Church of Kerrville and receives funds from
a grant by Mrs. Mary Rohe.

• An endowment fund for the Hill Country Youth
Orchestras has been established with the Community
Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

Tax deductible donations will be welcomed at:

year, including the Community Messiah Sing in
Kerrville. Three of the five concerts are presented
at the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville.
The December concert and April concert are
presented in the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville. Plans
are being made for the Orchestras to present concerts in
